Help Section - Submitting an Application for Registration

Last updated 11th August 2021

Exemption

The sixth page of the application form is Exemption. This page only applies to products registered in Australia.

You will need to complete this page if you have received an exemption from MEPS performance and/or payment from the GEMS Regulator for the model/s you are registering.

Please note this page only processes exemptions from MEPS performance and/or payment. If you have an exemption from labelling or other requirements, please contact the Energy Rating Team to arrange for your exemption to be processed.

When filling out this page, please have your letter of exemption from the GEMS Regulator at hand, as you will be required to attach it to your application.

You only need to complete this page if you have an exemption from MEPS performance and/or payment from the GEMS Regulator. If you don’t, simply select “Save and Continue” to move on to the rest of your application.

Applications with exemptions will be reviewed by the GEMS Regulator to ensure accuracy and that all required information is provided. False or incorrect applications will be rejected.

Please refer to the instructions below on how to complete this page.

If you have an exemption, you must complete the following on this page:
  1. If you have received an exemption from MEPS performance from the GEMS Regulator, tick the box under the question “Has an exemption from MEPS performance for this model been granted by the GEMS Regulator?”
  2. If you have received an exemption from payment from the GEMS Regulator, tick the box under the question “Did your exemption approval letter exempt your registration from payment?”
  3. Under “Upload your Exemption approval”, upload the letter from the GEMS Regulator that approves your product’s exemption from MEPS performance and/or payment.
All applications with exemptions will be reviewed by the Technical Assessment Officer. Applications making false claims of exemptions will be rejected.

If you have a MEPS performance exemption, all MEPS-related pages will now be hidden.
If you have a Payment exemption, the Payment page will be updated to indicate that your application has an exemption from payment.
